Encouragement of a curious and inquisitive mindset is just as important for fostering creativity in youngsters as specific skills or methods. Children are acute observers of everything, even the seemingly unremarkable things that adults frequently take for granted. Developing children’s interests can inspire them to come up with incredible inventions or make marks on paper that serve as representations of experiences or things they have observed. Children can make decisions and develop confidence in their own ideas when given the freedom to chose and use materials and resources in a variety of ways. If others “take over” and try to influence what the child is making, thinking, or doing, it can be very easy to lose the childhood confidence in their ideas and abilities.
